Love that you have acknowledged this topic. Now that one can connect to so many more people through social media it can seem to come across as empty or just a phrase for someone that doesn't quite know what to say. However we cannot make assumptions regarding someone's private prayer/s. There are a lot of prayer warriors out there that take each one of these circumstances and messages to heart. If I personally put a prayer request out on social media or shared a hard time, i would hope at least a few were sincere- even one prayer is better than none!

Yes! I mean, I think the best use of this phrase is when people literally mean, “I am going to pray for you.” There’s a sincerity to that, and that’s especially meaningful when that’s what was requested. Like so many other things, a lot depends on context. (I know it’s been very meaningful to me to know that people are praying for me at various points—it’s been a sign to me that they want to stay connected and want to help.)

That is why social media is tough! How do we know what people literally mean? How do we know if there prayer is deep or just one saying your name? I think we just have to hope its sincere no matter how their response is written!

Some people really do mean it when they say “I’m praying for you “. I would hope someone would believe me when I say that I’m praying for them… I do t take it lightly! God bless y’all

Yes, I think that’s right—as with so many words, they’re often only as good as the authenticity behind them.

I no longer ever include the “thoughts” word. It has sadly become so tainted. Even if I am frequently remembering someone. I just offer prayer if it seems appropriate. And sometimes when prayer is requested, I just write “done.”

I think of thoughts as "thinking of you". It's interesting to see how people perceive different words and messages. I like "done"- a good way of saying the action of prayer is complete. 💙
